The Vancouver Island South Film & Media Commission (hereafter referred to as “The Film Commission”) was established in 1984 to market the locations and talent inherent in Southern Vancouver Island to the global film sector to drive regional economic prosperity. Today, with nearly 400 members, the Film Commission attracts and services film projects and acts as a conduit between the global film sector and our South Island communities. This code of conduct helps us build a professional community that is rooted in respect, connectivity, and collaboration.
Purpose
The Film Commission membership is a privilege and responsibility. Vancouver Island South Film and Media Commission is committed to fostering a professional, respectful, and safe environment for all members and their employees. This Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behavior expected from all members to ensure ethical conduct, compliance with laws, and the well-being of all participants in Film Commission activities.
Scope
This Code of Conduct applies to all member companies and their employees, representatives, and guests while participating in any Film Commission-related events, activities, or interactions.
Conduct Expectations
- Members shall adhere to all municipal, provincial, and federal laws governing business operations.
- Members shall conduct all business and professional activities in a reputable, honest manner, to reflect honourably upon the Greater Victoria business community.
- Members shall respect the reputation, profile, and status of the Film Commission and represent it accordingly. Members shall act with integrity, fairness, and in the best interest of the Film Commission and its mission.
- Members shall treat all individuals with dignity and respect, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, age, degree of ability, or any other characteristic. The Film Commisison has zero tolerance for harassment, discrimination, or bullying in any form, including but not limited to sexual harassment, verbal abuse, and discriminatory remarks.
- Members shall promote the development and enhancement of industry growth and film activities in southern Vancouver Island.
- Members shall report any concerns or violations of this Code of Conduct to Film Commission staff. The Film Commission will investigate all reported violations of this Code of Conduct. Investigations will be conducted fairly, impartially, and confidentially. Members found in violation of this Code of Conduct may face disciplinary actions, including but not limited to warnings, suspension, or termination of membership.
Acknowledgment
As a member representative, I acknowledge that I am responsible and accountable for all actions and charges incurred by our designated employees. I understand that failure to adhere to the professional and personal obligations of this Code of Conduct may result in the termination of membership. This Member Code of Conduct aims to ensure a respectful, safe, and professional environment at all Film Commission events and activities. Your adherence to these guidelines helps us build good business and great community for all. Thank you for your cooperation and commitment.
